Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain vocational experience through a temporary work placement. Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your expertise by supporting ABB's operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.The work model for the role is: onsiteThis role is contributing to the Energy Storage team at the ABB research center in Baden-Dättwil, Aargau, Switzerland. Main stakeholders are Electrification division.In this role, you will contribute to the development of ABB battery solutions through applied research. You will support the Energy Storage team in our ABB Research Center in developing future sustainable battery solutions for trains, buses and stationary grid applications.You will be mainly accountable for:•Conduct applied research in the area of battery technology•Contribute to the planning, setup, and execution of experiments•Apply simulation tools to model battery cell aging•Closely collaborate with scientists and engineers

Qualifications for the role

  • Currently pursuing a Master degree in physics, electrochemistry, engineering or a closely related area
  • You are at ease communicating in English
  • You have an interest in new technologies related to Energy Storage
  • You have a collaborative, solution-focused attitude
  • Experience in practical laboratory work and data analysis is a plus
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art simulations and/or CAD is a plus
  • You hold a current valid VISA/work permit for Switzerland or a confirmation for a mandatory internship from your university
