Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will ensure product compliance for the existing MV product portfolio and support development projects by identifying and implementing innovative solutions. Leveraging your technical compliance expertise, you will execute and support maintenance and development tasks, as well as contribute to defining project plans. Additionally, your experience in functional safety will play a key role in establishing a cross-functional organization.The work model for the role is hybrid. #LI-hybridThis role is part of the Product Compliance team, contributing to ensuring our products are properly certified and qualified according to the latest standards. You will work closely with the Product Owner to deliver effective solutions and maintain compliance.You will be mainly accountable for:•Clarifying and overseeing product requirements related to standards or directives provided by the customer and/or product manager to ensure compliance in the market. Checking, verifying, and providing expert inputs on standards (e.g., IEC, UL, CSA, REACH, RoHS) while preparing and updating certification documents, such as declarations of conformity, based on applicable standards.•Review and update component specifications by considering technical requirements and quality standards and coordinating activities such as witness testing, reviewing and approving test reports, and preparing final documentation for certification. Taking ownership of functional safety initiatives, supporting the implementation of the Functional Safety Management (FSM) organization, and collaborating with external notified bodies (e.g., TÜV SÜD, UL, CSA).•Establishing system integration tests in alignment with product standards in collaboration with technical experts. Writing and approving test specifications for electrical and functional safety, ensuring compliance with standards like IEC and UL, and collecting critical components required for electrical safety validation.•Collaborating with key stakeholders, including release managers, project engineers, manufacturing, testing, sourcing, and R&D, to manage and implement changes effectively, ensuring alignment across all processes and teams.
Qualifications for the role
- You hold a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
- You have ideally a few years of experience in compliance engineering, with first-hand experience in discussions with external notified bodies (e.g., TÜV SÜD) and familiarity with functional safety concepts.
- You possess a solution-focused approach, leveraging fact-based argumentation to address challenges effectively.
- You are self-driven, demonstrating a high sense of responsibility and commitment in your work.
- You are recognized as a team player, with strong collaboration and communication skills, ensuring seamless interaction with colleagues and stakeholders.
- You are committed to living ABB's core values of safety and integrity, taking responsibility for your actions, fostering care for colleagues and the business, and leveraging your knowledge of ABB's products, which is considered an advantage.
- You are fluent in English and have basic proficiency in German, ensuring effective communication in an international environment.
