Your role and responsibilities

In this role, as a Local Trade Compliance Officer (LTCO) you will have the opportunity to lead Trade Compliance matters in the Local Division (LD) and provide business / solution-oriented support to the LD stakeholders under guidance of Country Trade Compliance Officer (CTCO) aimed to comply with national and international customs and trade regulations. The LTCO proactively contributes to ABB's risk avoidance program and trade efficiency considering LD's operational needs and its value chain processes.
The work model for the role is: hybrid
You will be mainly accountable for:
• Providing guidance and operational support to the Local Division (LD) regarding customs, origin, (VAT,) export control and international sanction regulations ("Trade Compliance"),
• Challenge, develop and improve processes of LD's customs procedures, origin management, sanction lists screening, dual-use classification, and export controls
• Supervise the implementation of ABB's Trade Compliance Program and its internal directives (Global Trade Compliance Procedure and Internal Control System) in the LD.
• Prepare, improve, and communicate instructions, guidelines and training regarding Trade Compliance in the LD in accordance with the guidelines provided by CTCO
• Collaborating with and instructing trade compliance support functions (e.g. product classification engineers, customs tariff coders)
• Advise and drive all trade compliance matters in LD's complex projects to different countries. • Contribute to and manage internal (local) and external audits (customs) • manage projects to improve SAP/SAP GTS functionalities.
• Maintain close relations with CTCO, TCS, PCE, Declarants and Logistics department.
• Develop and carry out internal checks (internal control system) on trade compliance aspects (incoterms, HS codes, export control, sanctions screening, critical assessments, preferential origin aspects, import and export efficiency)
• Applying for export licenses with the SECO and managing the correct handling in SAP GTS and the business

Qualifications for the role

  • • You have completed a higher education in foreign trade, logistics, customs, export controls and/or trade compliance and respective work experience for several years.
  • You possess knowledge in free trade and preferential origin matters as well as Swiss and US export control regulations
  • • You have the ability and high motivation to learn.
  • • You demonstrates strong integrity and business partnering skills, balancing supporting and challenging business.
  • • You are a good conceptual thinker, able to drive projects and improve processes continuously.
  • • You have strong system skills incl. SAP and SAP GTS preferably
  • • You are at ease communicating and writing in English and German (nice to have)
